Tribute to the Most Rev. Herbert A. Bevard, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of St Thomas in the Virgin Islands With deep reverence and heartfelt gratitude, I offer this tribute to my predecessor, Bishop Herbert A. Bevard, a faithful shepherd whose life and ministry left an indelible mark on our Diocese.
Bishop Bevard served the people of the Virgin Islands with profound pastoral care and unwavering love. His presence among us was gentle yet strong, always rooted in prayer and guided by a deep sense of mission. He walked with our communities through times of joy and hardship, always reminding us of God’s abiding presence.
Among his many contributions, Bishop Bevard spearheaded the restoration of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral following the devastating hurricanes – a testament to his commitment to preserving the sacred heart of our Diocese. He was a tireless advocate for Catholic education, believing in the transformative power of faith and learning. His support for Catholic Charities ensured that the most vulnerable among us were never forgotten. He tirelessly made appeals to benefactors and people of goodwill to support all these aspects of the life of our Christian community.
Even in retirement, his love for our Diocese never waned. He carried us in his prayers, and now, we carry him in our hearts.
We thank God for the gift of Bishop Bevard’s life and ministry. May he rest in the peace of Christ, and may his legacy continue to inspire us to serve with faith, compassion, and hope.
In Christ,
Most Rev. Jerome Feudjio, Bishop of the Diocese of St Thomas in the Virgin Islands
As the Archbishop of Washington, I want to convey my own prayers and those of Cardinal Donald Wuerl and Cardinal Wilton Gregory to the People of the Diocese of Saint Thomas upon the death of Bishop Bevard.
I know that the glory of the Resurrection frames your conviction in these days that Bishop Bevard is with the Lord. And his great love and care for Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, for the schools of the Diocese, and for solidarity with the poor stand in testimony that his priestly life on this earth was devoted to sacrificing deeply for the service of the flocks to which he was entrusted in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and especially in the Diocese of Saint Thomas.
The relationship between the Archdiocese of Washington and the People of God in the Virgin Islands is one of enduring care, friendship, and mutual support. In this time of loss and remembrance, we offer to Bishop Feudjio and the people of your diocese our fullest consolation and remembrance of a man who served you without reserve as your shepherd and fellow pilgrim on this earthly journey.
On behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Diocese of St. Thomas on the passing of The Most Reverend Herbert A. Bevard, Fifth Bishop of the Diocese.
Bishop Bevard shepherded this diocese for more than a decade, guiding the faithful through times of both challenge and renewal. His ministry was distinguished by a deep love for the people of the Virgin Islands, a steadfast commitment to Catholic education, and an unwavering devotion to the sacraments and the spiritual life of the Church.
Among his many contributions, we remain especially grateful for his leadership in the restoration of Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral, a visible testament to his care for the heart of our diocesan community. Even in retirement, Bishop Bevard was remembered for his humility, his gentle spirit, and his enduring witness to the Gospel.
Bishop Bevard chose the Virgin Islands as his spiritual home, and we are forever thankful for the years he walked among us as a faithful servant and shepherd. May his soul find eternal peace in the presence of Christ, whom he loved and served with such devotion.
I join a deeply saddened Virgin Islands community in mourning the passing of Bishop Herbert A. Bevard, retired Bishop of the Diocese of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. He was a humble and faithful servant of the Clergy, Religious, Laity and the entire Virgin Islands community.
Having known Bishop Bevard personally, I honor his memory and his sacred leadership of the Church in the Virgin Islands. He led his flock with kindness and compassion and will be remembered for his stewardship of the Church, and, as well, his caring ways. He loved the people of the Virgin Islands and had a strong commitment to Catholic education.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Bishop Bevard was raised Presbyterian and became a Catholic in 1964 immediately after completing high school. He entered the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and was ordained into the priesthood in 1972 for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In 2003 he was named a monsignor, and in 2007 he was appointed vicar for the northern part of Philadelphia. In 2008, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Bevard to serve as the fifth Bishop of the St Thomas Diocese. During his tenure, Bishop Bevard was responsible for a lot of the improvement of the Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral, which are still notable today. A loyal and faithful servant, he retired in September 2020.
The Virgin Islands is grateful that Bishop Bevard chose us as his spiritual home, a place which grew with him, as he led so many in divine worship and in the love of God. I offer a prayer for comfort and for God’s grace to the Diocese and to all the members of his family, friends, and loved ones, as well as share in this great loss.
On behalf of the Members of the 36th Legislature of the Virgin Islands, I extend heartfelt condolences to the clergy, parishioners, and the entire Catholic community on the passing of Bishop Herbert A. Bevard. We also share in the sorrow of his family and friends, who now mourn the loss of a beloved shepherd and spiritual leader.
Bishop Bevard dedicated his life to the service of God’s people, carrying out his ministry with humility, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the teachings of Christ. His years of leadership in the Diocese of St. Thomas reflected not only his devotion to the Church, but also his genuine care for the people of the Virgin Islands. He ministered with kindness, offered guidance with patience, and stood as a source of encouragement to those in need of spiritual strength.
His presence was deeply felt beyond the walls of the church, as he actively worked to strengthen communities, promote education, and inspire unity among people of faith. Through his words and deeds, Bishop Bevard left an indelible mark on the Virgin Islands, a mark that will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
As we celebrate his life and legacy, let us also take comfort in the knowledge that Bishop Bevard’s mission continues through the many lives he touched and the countless prayers he inspired. May his example remind us all of the power of faith, the importance of service, and the value of love for one another.
In this time of mourning, I ask the Virgin Islands community to keep Bishop Bevard’s family, his fellow clergy, and the Diocese in prayer. May God’s grace bring comfort, and may the peace that surpasses all understanding strengthen all who grieve his passing.
With deepest sympathy and prayerful remembrance,
Milton E. Potter, Senate President, 36th Legislature of the US Virgin Islands

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we remember Bishop Bevard, who faithfullyguided our Diocese for many Blessed years. Bishop Bevard was a great leader and a true friend to the entire Diocese. We cherish and remember his visits to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, His warm smile, his funny jokes, and his spiritual words of encouragement touched each of us in lasting ways. He reminded us to trust and pray to the Blessed Virgin Mary always and constantly and when we die trust Her to speak to the Lord on our behalf. He celebrated our creativity, like doing the Stations of the Cross at Magen’s Bay, he celebrated our joys, comforted us in our sorrow and continually reminded us to place our trust in God. Though we mourn his passing, we give thanks for the countless ways he enriched all of our church communities in the US Virgin Islands and strengthened our faith. May we honor him by carrying forward his legacy of pure kindness, prayer and service.
Eternal rest grant unto Him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. Elizabeth Harris (For the Parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church)

TRIBUTE TO MOST REVEREND HERBERT ARMSTRONG BEVARD, EMERITUS BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF SAINT THOMAS IN THE US. VIRGIN ISLANDS
It is with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of our Emeritus Bishop Most Rev. Herbert Armstrong Bevard. Our deepest sentiment of faith and esteem witness and attest of the awesome person and the dependable pastor he was for the diocese of Saint Thomas.
Beside his altruistic and profound commitment to foster the social teaching of the Church on Corporal and Spiritual works of mercy, as well as his desire and devotedness to the education of the youth, Bishop Bevard was a very humble man of faith and an icon of simplicity, a very easy relating shepherd, open to all without distinction, differences or reservation. He was ready to offer an opportunity and timely encouragement to all who could in some way be useful and impactful to the life of the diocese.
Bishop Bevard had trust and confidence on others, always ready to listen to all opinions and suggestions, he was a leader who implemented with eloquence the notion of synodality and delegation of authority. He did little, delegated more, and was very satisfied with the input of others. That was humility in action, built on evangelical confidence and Christlike trust. It is with simplicity and somewhat obedience that he willingly accepted to celebrate weekend masses at the Cathedral or in other parishes of the diocese, keeping with respect and dignity all pastoral and liturgical instructions prescribed by the pastors. He will even make an effort to adapt to uncomfortable norms in some cases.
We keep in memory in the person of Most Rev. Bevard a Spiritual father who welcomed everyone and was a man of all peoples. He will invite all parishioners to join him on Sunday afternoon at the beach for some moment conviviality. Where people were, there he was. All the Christian communities of the diocese will live to remember this great man and devoted servant of the people of God.
Looks like Bishop Bevard was a good cook. May he cook some salmon and dashi for the celestial court. On behalf of the priests and all the parishioners of Saint Patrick’s Church we extend our deepest sympathy to the diocesan family as we keep in prayers our dearest pastor emeritus. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
For the Saint Patrick Parish Community
Rev. Father Robert Kenfack Ngnintedem, Administrator,
Eulogy for Bishop Herbert Bevard Honoring a Life of Faith, Leadership, and Service
As we reflect on the journey and the deep impact that Bishop Herbert Bevard made on each of us, we remember not only the shepherd who guided his flock with wisdom and compassion, but also the humble servant of God whose life was a testament to unwavering faith and selfless love.
Bishop Bevard was a true shepherd—one who knew his flock intimately, cared for each member with patience and understanding, and always sought to bring light into the lives of those he served. In conversations, in the sacraments he celebrated, and in the gentle guidance he offered, Bishop Bevard revealed a heart attuned to the needs and hopes of his community. He never shied away from the hard work of building bridges, healing wounds, or standing with those who felt forgotten.
Throughout his ministry, Bishop Bevard exemplified the call to serve. He led by example, often choosing humility over recognition and action over words. His dedication to social justice, his advocacy for the poor and marginalized, and his unwavering commitment to the values of the Gospel inspired countless individuals to deepen their own faith and reach out to others. Bishop Bevard’s legacy is visible in the lives he touched, the communities he strengthened, and the hope he instilled.
At the core of Bishop Bevard’s life was an unshakeable faith in God’s love and providence. Even in times of challenge and uncertainty, his trust in God never wavered. He had a gift for finding grace in every moment and for helping others to see God’s presence in their daily lives. Bishop Bevard’s prayers were not just words, but the outpouring of a soul deeply in tune with the divine.
As we say goodbye to Bishop Bevard, we are reminded that his work does not end with his passing. We honor his memory by carrying forward the values he cherished: compassion, humility, service, and faith. Let us continue to build the community he envisioned—a community rooted in love and guided by the teachings of Christ.
Bishop Bevard’s journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory continue to inspire us, strengthen us, and draw us ever closer to the God he served so faithfully.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
With deep sorrow and much gratitude, the community of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral mourns the passing of our beloved Bishop Emeritus, the Most Reverend Herbert A. Bevard.
Bishop Bevard held a special love for this Cathedral, which he often referred to as the heart of our Diocese. His leadership during the restoration of the Cathedral following the hurricanes was a testament to his unwavering commitment to preserving the sacred beauty and spiritual life of our Church. Through his vision and tireless efforts, the Cathedral was not only rebuilt but renewed, becoming once again a place of refuge, worship, and unity for our people.
He celebrated countless liturgies here, always with reverence and joy. His presence in the sanctuary was marked by humility and a deep sense of the sacred. He prayed with us, wept with us, and rejoiced with us. We will always remember how much he touched and impacted our lives, but in the Church, in other events, and especially when he visited those who could not come to Church. His commitment to the mission of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School among other things will never be forgotten.
We give thanks for his life, his ministry, and his love for this Cathedral and its community. May he now rest in the eternal peace of the Lord, and may his memory continue to inspire all who enter these holy doors.
The Catholic community has lost a most devoted, humble and faithful servant.
Holy Family Parish honors the memory and sacred leadership of Most Reverend Emeritus Herbert Bevard. We fondly remember the times when he would officiate mass at Holy Family and the parishioners would be happy because we would be assured that mass would be one hour. Bishop Bevard always had a kind word and that sense of humor which always made you feel comfortable in his presence.
Bishop Herbert Bevard was responsible for strengthening the participation of the Haitian community within the parish by first establishing the Pierre Toussaint center in Bovoni where the Haitian community could attend mass and have community functions.
Holy Family parish will be forever grateful to the memory of Bishop Bevard for his spiritual leadership and for strengthening the sense of community within our parish.
It is with a grateful heart that we give thanks to God for the gift of Bishop Herbert Bevard to our Diocese. His love for people and his vision for the Church were truly admirable.
Bishop Bevard was the one who shared with our parish the vision of purchasing land on the east end of the island. It was he who chose the name St. Thérèse for the chapel — reflecting on his deep devotion to her. He often shared the story of his own baptism: when he turned his head for the water to be poured, he noticed a statue of St. Thérèse looking at him, a moment that left a lasting impression on his heart.
Bishop Bevard’s gift for preaching was remarkable. He had a way of engaging you, drawing from his own personal experiences, and making the Gospel come alive. He once said, “On Judgment Day, do not say a word — allow the Blessed Mother to speak on your behalf.” Bishop Bevard lived in that same spirit of trust and devotion.
He was also a shepherd with a thoughtful heart. Bishop always remembered birthdays and anniversaries. He sent confirmation students birthday cards, and he even sent flowers to my mother on her birthday — small gestures that stirred the hearts of many and reflected his pastoral care.
We now pray for the repose of his soul:
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School offer this tribute upon the passing of the Most Reverend Herbert A. Bevard, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands.
Bishop Bevard’s unwavering dedication to the spiritual and educational well-being of our community was truly remarkable. His presence at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School was always a source of inspiration and encouragement. We fondly recall his visits, his thoughtful homilies during school Masses, and his genuine interest in the progress and development of our students. His commitment to Catholic education was evident in his support of our school’s mission to nurture young minds and foster a strong faith.
His leadership extended far beyond the walls of our school, touching countless lives throughout the Virgin Islands. He guided the diocese with wisdom, compassion, and a deep understanding for the needs of his flock. His efforts to strengthen the Catholic community and promote social justice will long be remembered.
We are eternally grateful for Bishop Bevard’s spiritual guidance, his unwavering support for Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School, and his profound impact on the lives of our students, faculty, and families. His legacy of faith, service, and dedication will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Please accept our deepest condolences and prayers during this time of sorrow. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Deacon Modestus Dike, Vice Principal, Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School
Bishop Herbert Bevard was a man of deep humility, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the poor and most vulnerable among us. He had a special passion for ensuring that Catholic Charities would always be a safety net for those in need, and he lived that mission with quiet strength and kindness.
He often noticed the people sitting by the roadside in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, in particular Estate Bovoni—those who were hungry, forgotten, and in need of care. Moved by their suffering, Bishop Bevard worked closely with Catholic Charities to establish the Pierre Toussaint Center which was located in Estate Bovoni, so that their needs could be met with dignity and love.
To Bishop Bevard, Catholic Charities was not simply an organization; it was the face of the Church itself. He reminded us that every person who entered our facilities should know, through their welcome and care, that they had stepped into a Catholic home—where they would always be treated with respect and compassion.
One of his most enduring lessons to us was simple yet profound: “Never feed anything to the homeless that you would not eat yourself.” In those words, he left us a guide for how to love, how to serve, and how to honor Christ in the least of our brothers and sisters.
The Catholic community has lost a true spiritual leader, but Bishop Bevard’s legacy of service, humility, and love for the poor will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
The Haitian community remembers Bishop Herbert Bevard with love and gratitude. He helped us set up our church in Bovoni, encouraged our children to attend Sts. Peter and Paul School. He truly cared for us and walked with us in faith.
Bishop Bevard especially loved the hymn “Au ciel, au ciel j’irai la voir un jour”, a song that speaks of hope and eternal life. As we remember him, we hold onto that same hope. He will be dearly missed, but his kindness and love will forever remain in our hearts.
Greetings in the Lord. I join His Excellency, Bishop Jerome Feudjio, together with our priests and laity, to thank God for the ministry of Bishop Herbert Bevard, in the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. The tributes which we read and hear underline his magnetic personality and personal holiness. We pray for him, with him, and to him, as we celebrate his life and Passover in our Memorial Mass… and I would like to recall his introduction to our Virgin Islands Community.
A NEW BISHOP FOR THE DIOCESE OF ST. THOMAS IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS:
In his 2008 role as diocesan administrator, Msgr. Kosak was called upon by Msgr. Jerome Feudjio, pastor of Holy Family Church, to introduce Bishop-elect Bevard at a press conference on July 7th. As the Catholic Islander described the event: Msgr. Kosak entered the room with a stranger dressed as a monsignor. On the way to the dais, he quietly introduced to those along the way, “Our new bishop, Msgr. Herbert Bevard.”
Msgr. Kosak offered a prayer as well as a summary of the events that led to the appointment of a new bishop for the diocese. Then bishop-elect Bevard spoke. “I have been transferred to paradise,” he said to the gathering, clearly excited by his new assignment. During his ordination ceremony remarks, Bishop Bevard honored Msgr. Kosak with these words: “I am grateful to Msgr. Michael Kosak, who has served so ably as diocesan administrator since bishop Murry's transfer to the diocese of Youngstown in 2007. His care for the priests and people of the diocese of St. Thomas is known by all the faithful. Only I know of the solicitude and kindness which he has shown to me since he has learned of my appointment.”
Rest in Peace, dear Bishop Bevard, and rise in Glory.
Msgr. Michael Kosak Pastor Emeritus, St. Ann Church, St Croix
I was introduced to Bishop Bevard by the then Vocations Director, Msgr. Jerome Feudjio, our current Bishop. From our very first meeting, Bishop Bevard warmly welcomed me to the Diocese as a seminarian. I immediately felt at home in the Virgin Islands. At the time, I was not fluent in English, and Bishop Bevard would often speak to me in French. This thoughtful gesture put me at ease and reflected his deep sense of hospitality. I hold fond memories of our late Bishop, especially his insightful and moving homilies. He had a wonderful sense of humor that made him approachable and kind, just as every good shepherd should be. I am grateful to have served in the Diocese under his leadership, and I continue to pray for the peaceful repose of his gentle soul. One of his favorite hymns was the French song, “Ô ciel, ô ciel, ô ciel, j’irai là voir un jour,” which means, “O heaven, O heaven, O heaven, I shall go there to see it one day.” I pray that our merciful Lord has now welcomed him into that eternal embrace. Amen.
The Late Most Reverend Herbert Armstrong Bevard, Fifth Bishop of St. Thomas In The Virgin Islands
The fifth Bishop appointed to serve as the Shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI on July 7, 2008, Bishop Herbert Armstrong Bevard will forever be remembered as the Catholic Bishop of all of the people; the adults and children alike, not just of our Catholic Diocese, but also of the Trust Territory of the United States Virgin Islands.
In short, Bishop Bevard was a people person. From the time of his arrival in the Territory, established and maintained written contact with each and every person, regardless of Religious persuasion or Political affiliation, that he encountered both within and out of the Diocese.
Further, Bishop Bevard was meticulously keen to write personal notes of congratulations to each and every First Communicant and Confirmation Student in our four schools; all this in addition to, like clock work, personally monetarily supporting each of our Diocese's Schools. He also carefully maintained a list of his one thousand mission appeals. And oh yes, make no mistake about it, his Priests and Religious always received a card and a gift on their anniversaries and birthdays.
In a November, 2020 interview with a Staff Member of our Diocesan magazine, The Catholic Islander (entitled A REFLECTION ON BISHOP HERBERT ARMSTRONG BEVARD's Twelve Years of Spiritual Leadership of the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, Bishop Bevard's 12-year leadership as our Spiritual Leader), Bishop Bevard was described as has never - ever having forgotten his friends.
All of us who comprised Bishop Bevard's Diocesan flock, remain confident, therefore, that as he rests in the Arms of the Divine Mercy, he will continue to look after us in prayer.
Our family would like to express deepest condolences to our Beloved Bishop Bevard. You were indeed a faithful and humble servant. Your kindness and caring Spirit will always be remembered by our family. We always remember your love for Our Blessed Mother. May your Soul Rest in Eternal Peace. You are always in our prayers.
I, Deacon Dr. Denis Griffith, wish to express my deepest condolences to the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands and all the Priests and Deacons, and to the family of Bishop Emeritus Herbert A. Bevard, his relatives, on his passing on September 20, 2025. As we mourn his death, we are reminded of his steadfast leadership during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our Emeritus Bishop, the Most Reverend Herbert Amstrong Bevard had a huge impact on our spiritual lives. He led with grace and dignity. The young people he confirmed waited with eager expectation to receive his letters in response to their confirmation letters that they sent to him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
On behalf of the Chancery of the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, I wish to honor the life and service of our beloved Bishop Herbert Bevard. During my time working with him, I came to know him as a loving, kind, and hardworking shepherd who gave of himself tirelessly for the good of the Church and the people of our Diocese. Bishop Bevard had a special devotion to our Catholic Schools, always encouraging excellence in faith and education for our young people. His leadership, humility, and deep care for others left a profound legacy in our community, and his memory will continue to inspire us to serve with the same dedication and joy. May God grant him eternal peace.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of His Excellency, the Most Reverend Herbert A. Bevard, bishop-emeritus of the Diocese of St Thomas in the Virgin Islands. I first met Bishop Bevard at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden, NJ for Mater Ecclesiae Parish’s Assumption Mass in 2008 when he was bishop-elect. I especially got to know him well during his two visits to St. Peter Church in Merchantville, NJ where he was the preacher for a missions appeal weekend as well as for the Forty Hours Devotions. I had the great privilege to visit Bishop Bevard twice in the Virgin Islands, the last time being just before the world shut down for the coronavirus. He was an exemplary convert, a champion of the Church’s traditions and a true shepherd who spent himself tirelessly for his people. May his soul and all of the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
I am not one to invite myself into people’s space, but you gently invited me into your hemisphere when you approached me about Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. I was humbled. Your love for Catholic education aligned perfectly with my own convictions—it was sincere, tireless, and contagious.
Your passion fueled my own. Your hard work motivated me to work even harder to keep the school open. From the beginning, my relationship with you was built on respect, patience, and deep gratitude. When you approached me, expressing the need for a conscientious and hardworking leader due to the illness of my predecessor Priest, I was honored. I took up the mantle because you believed in me. I still remember how daunting that initial conversation was—deciding the future of our Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School was no small task. I told you plainly that I wanted our School to remain open, but I knew it would be a challenge. We discussed strategies and envisioned the future with spirited determination and shared faith.
And then, with God’s intervention and your affirmation, the decision was made—your appointed me Principal and our school would stay open. I was elated, though fully aware of the responsibilities that came with limited resources. Still, your faith in me pushed me to stay prayed up, show up, and work hard—to prove that we could move forward. During that pivotal moment, I said: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” “If it’s God’s School, it will remain open, if it’s not, it will close.” Those words came from the depth of my soul and, I believe, gave you the assurance of how serious I was about the mission.
It was your strength and encouragement that kept me going. You worked tirelessly to secure funds to support the school and its students. I saw that; I felt it; and because of it, I often pressed on without complaint, even when the road was difficult. I simply didn’t want to disappoint you.
Your legacy at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School will forever be one of forward movement. You were a kind soul, an attentive listener, and a visionary. You understood the challenges we faced, but you pressed on—with faith and patience—and inspired others, including me, to do the same.
Thank you for opening your heart to my calling through God’s Divine Plan. When I said “YES” to your invitation, I was answering not just to you, but to God.
I know that God knew your heart and all the sacrifices you made for the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands. I will forever be grateful for your faith in me and your unwavering support of our School. Now, as you rest in the Arms of our Lord and Savior, I know you will continue to bless us from above. Fly high, Bishop Bevard. Have fun with the Angels. Till we meet again.
Joceline M Daniel, AA., BA., MLIS Former Principal, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School
