Sr. Violetta, M.C. of the Missionary Sisters of Charity, has been appointed the new Regional Superior of their branch in the Diocese of St Thomas in the Virgin Islands. This means that, according to their Constitutions, she officially represents the Society with regard to the religious and civil authorities.
This update was communicated by Sr. M. Joseph M.C., the Superior General, in a letter, May 13, 2026, sent from India to the Most Rev. Jerome Feudjio, the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands.
The Missionaries of Charity Sisters (Mother Teresa’s Sisters or the Sisters of Mother Teresa, as many refer to them) is a religious community in the Catholic Church, founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta (now St. Teresa of Calcutta) in 1950 in Calcutta, India. Their community is totally dedicated to the service of the poorest of the poor, operating homes for orphans, the elderly, the dying, and those suffering from leprosy and HIV/AIDS, irrespective of social class, creed, color, or religion. They deliberately choose to show God’s concern for the poorest and the lowliest, remaining right on the ground, while offering immediate and effective service to those in need, until they can find someone who can help them in a better and more lasting way.
Let us pray for her, for the community and religious order, and support their mission in any way we can.
