This week, the Diocese of St. Thomas joins the universal Catholic Church as she resumes Ordinary Time.
The term "Ordinary" does not mean "common" or "unimportant." Rather, it comes from the word ordinal, meaning "numbered." This season represents the ordered life of the Church - the time in which we take the graces received during the great feasts of Christmas and Easter and allow them to take root and grow in our everyday lives.
During this season, the Church focuses on the public ministry of Jesus and His teachings. It is a time for maturation, conversion, and steady growth in our relationship with God. As we transition back into this season, we are reminded that every day is an opportunity to encounter Christ in the "ordinary" moments of life.
Liturgical Note: The liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green, symbolizing hope, life, and the growth of the Church.
We invite you to join your parish for daily and Sunday Mass as we walk with the Lord through the coming weeks.
